About Us

Our story.

The launch of ChatGPT in November 2021 caught the world (and our SaaS business) by surprise.We soon realized that every new future release of AI could make entire industries feel the same as we experienced. Voice artists? Video editors? Programmers?

This led us to think long and hard about questions like: what does this mean for the future of businesses who are increasingly “online”? How can a company remain relevant in the face of such tidal waves of innovation?

A pivotal moment came when the ChatGPT plugin store was released and being among the world’s first 40 plugins approved by OpenAI, we saw tens of thousands of users flock to our application in the first week alone.

The creation of such a plugin, and the subsequent success opened our eyes to the future of AI agents. We became convinced that every company in the world needs to have the ability to create such agents for their business.

Internal agents would become more like digital colleagues that work alongside your human team and drive automation and productivity to new heights. We call these Process Agents.

Client facing agents would offer incredible experiences of support, sales and more. We call these Brand Agents.

So in the Spring of 2023, we set out on a mission to create the world’s easiest and most robust product to design, observe and deploy AI agents.

Today, SmythOS (Pronounced Smith-OS/ smIθ ου εs/) provides the most robust, easiest to use A-Z solution for anyone looking to create incredible automation and orchestrate intelligence at the speed of your imagination.

To us, it’s not a question if AI agents and multi-agent systems are the future. The question is simply how easy or difficult it will be for people to create, maintain and deploy them.

We believe SmythOS is the answer to that opportunity, and we hope you’ll join us.

Our Mission

We see the web as a breathing collective consciousness, and SmythOS as an intelligence orchestration platform to harness this power.

When humans are empowered by thousands of AI agents to assist them in every dream possible, we envision a 1,000X GDP increase. Value added tax on trillions of daily agent-to-agent micro transactions will enable the total elimination of personal income tax for humans and provide universal generous income.

We want to live in a world where mothers are valued more than receptionists, where our children’s education is about more than making them productive economic units, a world where humans can engage in soul craft rather than forced labor for subsistence.

Safety Research

We have solved alignment for autonomy.

SmythOS AI agents can only follow approved workflows from their human authors. While you can create just about any agent with ease, it is impossible by design for an agent to act outside its parameters.

At the same time, our agents are autonomous and self-healing. The intersection of autonomy and control are sometimes called Goldilocks agents. Enough autonomy to matter, enough control to trust.

Our leading constrained alignment innovation air gaps access knowledge on a need-to-know basis which provides near complete control against leaking data or processes to end users.

Open Source

We are unapologetically open source with a permissive MIT license, and we believe it to be a defining moral issue for our time.

Few decisions have contributed more to global equity than an internet open to all. We believe that it is important that the internet of agents will be open for our children and the generations to come.
